Bedouine is the stage name of the singer- songwriter Azniv Korkejian. She was born in Syria, and then moved to Saudi Arabia where she did most of her growing up, until her family won a Green Card Lottery at the age of ten. “Moving around so much caused me at some point to feel displaced, to not really belong anywhere and I thought that was a good title,” Korkejian said of her Bedouine name. “My music sounds so traditionally American and I’m not sure how that happened,” she says, recalling that it wasn’t until her twenties that she discovered ’60s folk music and picked up a guitar. “My music sounds so traditionally American and I’m not sure how that happened”.
In 2017 Korkejian released a self-titled debut album, which included the single “One of These Days”. The piece highlights Bedonie’s unique style and tone, bringing back to life the magic of the 60’s folk music with a personal modern statement.
